You don't need the VIN. Our system generates the unlock code using the radio's serial number.
Your code is displayed instantly after payment and also sent to your email. Assistance is available anytime, including nights and weekends. Manual requests are usually completed within 1 hour and never longer than 24 hours.
A 100% money-back guarantee covers all purchases. To request a refund, simply provide a short video showing the code entry attempt and visible serial number. Review our Refund Policy for complete terms.
Common Uconnect Anti-Theft Lockout Triggers
The Uconnect anti-theft system locks the radio whenever it loses its link to the vehicle, and the triggers are predictable:
- After a battery replacement or disconnect - the number one cause. As soon as power is restored the screen asks for the anti-theft code before the radio will play.
- Radio removal or installation - fitting a used or replacement Uconnect head unit always triggers code verification.
- Electrical work - voltage drops, blown fuses or wiring repairs can cut power to the unit and arm the lock.
- Too many failed attempts - after 3 incorrect codes most Uconnect systems lock for around 60 minutes. Leave the ignition on and wait before trying again.
In every case you only need the radio serial number to retrieve the correct 4- or 5-digit code - no VIN, dealer visit or proof of purchase required.
Mopar Uconnect 5 & R1 Platform (2021-2024)
Driving a newer 2021-2024 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram? Your radio most likely uses the R1 platform, with serial numbers that start with T0071 or T00AD (two zeros, not the letter O). A typical serial looks like T0071326X512522 - format T0071 + 4 digits + 1 letter + 4 digits. Always enter the full serial, including the prefix.

R1 platform R1LOW serial (T0071)

R1 platform R1LOW-R serial (T00AD)
Common R1 units include UJH-R1LOW-SB, UJH-R1LOW-R, R1LOW-R-SBM, R1LOW-SB-M, the Mitsubishi Electric Uconnect 5, and the Harman R1 INT NA and R1 EXT (NA / ER / RW) head units.
Detailed guides for each R1 head unit: R1 INT NA, R1 EXT NA, R1 EXT RW, R1 EXT ER.
Uconnect Code Length & Entry Attempts
Uconnect codes are 4 or 5 digits depending on the model year - older systems (pre-2017) use 4-digit codes, while 2017-2021 systems use 5-digit codes. Our system reads the serial number and returns the correct format automatically.
You normally get three attempts. After three wrong codes the radio enters a WAIT state and must stay powered with the ignition in RUN for a continuous 30 minutes before it will accept another attempt - so enter the code carefully the first time.
How the Uconnect CanBUS Anti-Theft Pairing Works
Once a Uconnect radio is installed it learns the vehicle VIN through the CanBUS network, so the unit will not work in another car until the correct anti-theft code is entered. That pairing is why the radio asks for its code after a battery disconnect, a power surge, radio removal, or when you fit a used head unit.
Because our lookup uses the radio serial number rather than the VIN, you do not need proof of ownership or vehicle paperwork - ideal for second-hand or salvage-yard radios where the official Stellantis line (1-800-448-0944) cannot help without documents.
How to Find Your Uconnect Serial Number (Dealer Mode)
No need to remove the radio. On most systems you can read the serial number through Dealer Mode / Engineering Mode - a hidden service menu. Then navigate to the Serial Number field and enter it exactly as shown.
Uconnect 8.4 (2013-2018)
- Hold the up, down and front-defrost buttons together for about 5 seconds to open Dealer Mode (or hold temp-up + temp-down for the Engineering Menu).
- Go to
System Information → Radio Part Information → Serial Number.
Uconnect 8.4 NEW (2019+) and Uconnect 12-inch
- Press and hold the bottom-left and bottom-right edges of the bezel together (below the screen, not the touchscreen buttons) until Dealer Mode opens.
- Go to
System Information → Radio Part Information → Serial Number.
Uconnect 7-inch Engineering Mode (Jeep Compass 2018)
- Hold the temp-up (red) and temp-down (blue) buttons together for about 5 seconds to open the Engineering Menu.
- Go to
System Information → Target Main Data → Serial Number.
Uconnect 5.0 (RA4 / RB4)
- Hold Volume Up + the Tuner knob for 5-10 seconds, then go to
System Settings → System Information → Serial Number(orSettings → Display → About).
If the screen method fails, the serial is also on a barcode label on the back or side of the unit, or on the Radio ID card in the glovebox or owner manual.
All Uconnect Radio Models We Support
Our lookup covers every Uconnect screen size - 3.0", 4.3", 5.0", 6.5", 7", 8.4" and 12.0" displays - across all supplier families:
- Harman: RA2, RA3, RA4, RM4, VP3, VP4 (including VP4 G series and VP4 JP), plus the R1 platform
- Continental: RB4, RB5, VP2, VP2RFR navigation systems
- Panasonic: UAM, UAC, UCM, UJM and 430N radios
- Alpine: Maserati and Alfa Romeo Uconnect units
Money-saving tip: a few older 430N units accept 0000 as a default master code - try it once before purchasing a lookup.
Each radio has its own unique code tied to its serial number. If you swapped in a different head unit, you need the code for the new radio's serial - codes from other radios (or the VIN) will not work.
Uconnect Codes by Vehicle (2016-2021)
The most common code requests we see, by vehicle:
- Ram 1500 - 2016-2018 Uconnect 8.4 UAM (4-digit codes), 2019-2021 Uconnect 8.4 UCM (5-digit codes); serials often start with TM
- Dodge Charger - 2016-2017 Uconnect 8.4 (4-digit), 2018-2021 updated systems (5-digit); R/T and SRT use premium navigation versions
- Also frequent: Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Wrangler and Compass; Dodge Challenger, Durango and Journey; Chrysler 300, 200, Pacifica and Town & Country; Ram 2500 / 3500 and ProMaster; Fiat 500X
The process is identical for every model - read the serial from Dealer Mode or the radio label, submit it, enter the code.
How to Reset a Uconnect System (Soft & Factory Reset)
Bluetooth glitches, a frozen screen or navigation issues are usually fixed with a reset - no code needed. A locked anti-theft screen is different (see the note below).
Soft reset (keeps your data)
- Turn the ignition to ACC / RUN.
- Press and hold the Volume and Tuner knobs together for 10-20 seconds until the screen flashes and goes dark.
- Wait for the brand logo to reappear - the system restarts with settings intact.
Factory reset (erases everything)
- Open
Settings → System Information → Reset to Factory Default(on some models: hold the temperature buttons for 5 seconds and pick "factory reset"). - This wipes paired phones, contacts, navigation favorites and system settings - use it only when necessary.
Important: a reset does not clear the anti-theft lock. If the screen still asks for a code after resetting, you need the unlock code generated from your radio's serial number.

How can I find the code for my Uconnect radio?
If you have not lost the Uconnect code yet, check these places first - many vehicles ship with the code written down somewhere in the car.
- Glovebox - Many manufacturers ship a small sticker labelled "Anti-theft unlock code" inside the glovebox door or top panel.
- Owner's manual - Often handwritten on the inside cover or stapled to the page covering the radio.
- Code card - A small slip of paper inside the original purchase pack - sometimes inside the radio sleeve itself.
- Service records - Dealers sometimes write the Uconnect radio code into the maintenance log after a battery service.
- Old paperwork - Previous owners often leave the code in the document folder, especially on second-hand cars.
- Dealer paperwork - The original window-sticker pack or sales folder sometimes lists the radio code.

About Uconnect Radios
Uconnect is the in-car infotainment system used across Stellantis brands - Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Maserati. When the battery is disconnected, replaced or the head unit is removed, the Uconnect anti-theft system locks and asks for a 4- or 5-digit code before the radio will work again. The line-up spans Uconnect 3.0, 4.0, 4C and Uconnect 5 touchscreens plus the newer R1 platform (R1LOW, R1 INT NA, R1 EXT NA) found in 2021+ vehicles. We generate the correct unlock code instantly from the radio serial number alone - no VIN, dealer appointment or proof of purchase needed.
Factory radios produced by Uconnect can be found in a wide range of vehicles and infotainment systems.
The same radio family may be used across several vehicle brands, model generations, and regional markets.
Each Uconnect unit can usually be identified by a unique combination of letters, numbers, and production prefixes.
Serial structures are not universal and can change across different radio platforms manufactured by Uconnect.
Some Uconnect radios allow the serial number to be displayed directly on-screen.
However, many units still require checking the identification label attached to the radio chassis.
To ensure an accurate radio code lookup, always enter the complete serial number exactly as shown.
Two visually similar radios can use completely different code databases depending on the serial format.

How to Find the Serial Number on Your Uconnect Radio
By Removing the Radio Unit (Most Reliable Method)
On most OEM and retail units, the serial number is printed on a physical factory tag attached to the back or side of the radio unit casing.
To access it, you'll usually need to extract the head unit using removal tools. Depending on the vehicle and radio model, this may require plastic trim tools:
- Most units have a manufacturer identification sticker on the metal shell
- The serial typically contains a combination of letters and numbers
- Only the unique serial number sequence works for code generation
Continental Uconnect 8.4 (UAM / UCM / UJM) serial label
Harman Uconnect serial (T00BE)
Continental VP2 navigation serial (TVPQN)
On the Radio Screen (Display Method)
Some digital infotainment systems and specific factory units allow the serial number to be displayed directly on-screen using a hidden service menu or a specific button combination.
Uconnect-specific: On the Uconnect touchscreen open Settings then System Information and read the Serial Number or ESN. Many units also expose a hidden engineering menu by holding Volume Up + Tuner for 5-10 seconds, where the radio serial and version info are listed. The serial is also printed on a label on the side or back of the head unit once it is removed.
- Try holding "INFO" + "MENU" while switching the radio on
- The serial may briefly appear on the display
- Every manufacturer uses different key sequences
Not all units support this digital lookup option.

How to Enter the Radio Code
After receiving the correct unlock code, the activation process is usually quick and straightforward.
Most units automatically prompt for the security PIN after power is restored or a battery replacement occurs.
How to Type the Security PIN:
Depending on your specific Uconnect unit interface, use the preset buttons, touchscreen keypad, or numbered controls to input the unlock sequence:
- For radios with a standard 1-6 preset button row: If your unlock code contains numbers like 8 or 0, you use presets 1 to 4 to dial them in. Press button 1 multiple times to change the first character, button 2 for the second character, button 3 for the third, and button 4 for the fourth.
- Direct keypad entry method: Simply tap the corresponding numbers directly on the display screen or use the full 0-9 physical dial pad to type the sequence.
⚠️ The Security Lockout Penalty:
Depending on the manufacturer family, the unit will require a strict waiting period before allowing another entry attempt.
If the radio display remains locked or frozen after entering the code, we can help troubleshoot the issue layout safely.
Uconnect Serial Number Examples
Different radio manufacturers use different serial number formats.
Below are some common examples found on Uconnect radios:
- Prefixes such as "BP," "T00," "M," "V," "CL," or "GM" are commonly used
- Serial formats vary, but they are typically alphanumeric
- Certain digital units show the S/N through a hidden menu
- Many OEM systems place the serial on the top or side of the radio housing
Uconnect prefix patterns

Enter the full serial exactly as displayed, including the T00xx or T0071 prefix. The leading characters are two zeros, not the letter O. R1 platform serials follow the T0071 + 4 digits + 1 letter + 4 digits pattern.
Serial structure can change across regions, production years, and hardware generations. Entering the wrong serial may generate an incorrect code.

The Difference Between the Serial Number and Part Number
The Serial Number (S/N):
- This is the radio-specific identification number
- It's used to generate the correct unlock code
- Usually located on a sticker marked "S/N" or "Serial"
The Part Number (P/N):
- This identifies the manufacturer product type
- It's used for technical identification, but not for generating the unlock code
- Part numbers are often longer and more generic
Frequently Asked Questions
These messages mean the anti-theft security system has been triggered due to multiple incorrect code attempts.
Depending on the exact Uconnect model, the solution varies.
SAFE / WAIT Mode: Keep the stereo powered on for about an hour without touching any buttons. Once the waiting period ends, the display will change back to the "CODE" or "0000" input prompt.
LOCKED 10 / LOCKED 13: Some units, especially Ford/Visteon or Sony-made systems, lock permanently after 10 or 13 failed attempts. For "LOCKED 10", you can often hold the preset button 6 for several seconds to get a final attempt. However, if it shows "LOCKED 13", the radio is fully locked and may require professional hardware service.
Yes. Our database is designed to handle both factory-installed (OEM) units and standalone aftermarket stereos made by Uconnect.
The only requirement is a valid, standard serial number format. If your device has that identification code, our automated lookup platform can process it instantly.
Even if the original factory tag is completely damaged, you can usually still recover the serial number.
In almost all cases, the manufacturer stamps the primary serial number directly into the side or rear metal frame of the stereo housing.
Carefully check the metal surface for an engraved code. This stamped number is permanent and will work perfectly in our lookup generator even if the paper label is gone.
An invalid serial message typically happens if a number is mistyped or if a part number was entered by mistake.
To fix this, check the following common issues:
- Confusing Letters and Numbers: Double-check that digits like 0/O or 1/I are entered correctly based on the standard Uconnect format.
- Entering the Part Number: Our system strictly rejects part numbers or hardware codes. Make sure the sequence you enter is the unique serial identifier.
- Incorrect formatting: Enter the serial without any separators - no dashes, no spaces, no special characters.
Unfortunately, the VIN will not work here. The unlock code is generated using only the unique Uconnect serial number found on the device itself.
This is actually a major advantage:
If your radio was replaced by a previous owner, came from a second-hand car, or was upgraded later, a VIN-based code from a dealer will not work.
By using the device serial number, you guarantee that you get the correct code for the exact stereo hardware you own.
Uconnect Radio Code FAQ
No. Unlike some systems, a Uconnect radio stays locked until the correct anti-theft code is entered. The WAIT timer after wrong attempts only re-enables code entry - it never unlocks the radio by itself.
No. The anti-theft code is permanently assigned to your radio's serial number and never changes. Keep it somewhere safe (owner manual or wallet) - you will need the same code after any future battery disconnect or electrical work.
Yes - bring proof of ownership and the radio serial number and the dealer can pull the code through the Dealer Connect program. Expect a service fee of roughly $80-$150, an appointment, and on many newer models an in-person visit. Our lookup needs only the serial number, delivers instantly 24/7, and also works for second-hand radios the dealer cannot help with.
Be careful - fake generator apps and YouTube bypass tricks can brick your Uconnect system, void the Stellantis / FCA warranty, or push malware. Most "free" sites either fail on newer (2016+) security protocols or ask for payment after collecting your details. Use a verified serial-based lookup, or the official Stellantis line at 1-800-448-0944.
Re-check every digit (0 vs O, 5 vs S), make sure the radio is fully powered with the ignition ON and battery voltage healthy. After three wrong entries the system shows WAIT - keep it powered for 30-60 minutes before retrying. If a memory glitch is suspected, switch the ignition off for 10 minutes and try again.
