On almost all VW models, you can find it in one of these places:
- Shown on the radio screen (occasionally by using specific button presses)
- On the radio body itself - you'll need to extract it and write down your serial (which is fairly easy)
Search for a label such as: Serial Num. or SN.
1. Getting Sharan's S/N on the Screen
All factory VW audio units — the RCD 300, RCD 310, RCD 500, RNS 310, and RNS 510 — require physical removal to access the serial label. There is no key combination or menu option that will show the serial on screen.
2. The Serial Number on the Radio Sticker
The serial number is usually located on a sticker attached to the radio casing.
Step 1: Turn off the vehicle.
Step 2: After that, take off the surrounding panel.
Step 3: Then release the mounting clips.
Step 4: Carefully slide the unit out partially (Be careful not to damage the cables).

Removing the Radio with VAG Extraction Keys
VAG extraction keys are the correct tool for removing the radio. Insert one key into each of the round holes on the left and right sides of the unit, push until you feel the clips disengage, then pull the radio forward by the keys. Using anything else risks damaging the fascia.
