1. How to See the Serial Number on the TLX Screen
Accessing the Serial Number in Acura TLX
The Acura TLX, produced from 2015 to present, uses Honda's proven serial display system. You can access the serial number right on the display without removing the radio — a quick button combination is all it takes.
Display Method (Works on Most TLX Models):
- Turn the ignition ON (engine off is fine).
- If the radio shows "CODE", turn the radio OFF.
- Press and hold preset buttons 1 and 6 simultaneously for 2–5 seconds.
- While holding both buttons, turn the radio ON.
- The display will show the serial number – either as a complete 8-digit number or in two parts:
U####thenL####.
Generation-Specific Notes:
- 2015–2020 TLX (1st Gen) – All trim levels (Base, Technology, A-Spec, Advance) use the standard 1+6 button method. Models with navigation may also display the serial via CANCEL + MAP + MENU → Detail Information → ECU Information.
- 2021–2025 TLX (2nd Gen) – The True Touchpad Interface infotainment may store the serial in Settings → System → About. Try this first before using the button combination.
Physical Removal: If the button method doesn't work, you can physically remove the radio to find the serial number label on the chassis. This is rarely needed on the TLX.
2. Locating your Serial Number on the Radio Unit
The serial number is usually found on a label attached to the radio casing.
Step 1: Turn off the the ignition.
Step 2: After that, take off the surrounding panel.
Step 3: Then unscrew the radio brackets.
Step 4: Carefully pull the radio forward partially (Be careful not to damage the connections).
Step 5: Look for the serial number on the side of the unit.
Step 6: Write down the full number carefully and come back to our website so that we can generate the code.
Important: Be careful not to mix the Serial Number and the Part Number!
Alternative: Removing the Acura Radio
When on-screen retrieval isn't available, physically remove the radio by popping off the trim surround. The serial label is on the radio housing itself.

Common Acura TLX Serial Number Formats
The radio uses a serial number in U####L#### format (e.g. U3456 L7890). Acura shares this format with Honda. Navigation systems display a GNA or HBM prefix.
How to Enter the Radio Code on Your Vehicle

For 2021+ TLX Touchscreen: If your TLX has the True Touchpad Interface, an on-screen numeric keypad may appear instead. Tap each digit and press "Enter" to confirm.
Lockout Warning: After 3 incorrect attempts, the radio locks for 1 hour. Keep the ignition ON during the wait – turning it off resets the timer.
