This anti-theft code is triggered when the radio is disconnected from power.
Car manufacturers use this security system to prevent stolen radios from being reused.
If power is cut, the radio stops functioning and asks for the CODE before it can be used again.
Once the right combination is entered, the stereo is fully reactivated.

1. How to See the Serial Number on the Pilot Screen
Accessing the Serial Number in Honda Pilot
The Honda Pilot features the same user-friendly serial display system found across the Honda lineup. From 2009-2025 models, you can access the serial number using a simple button combination — no tools or radio removal required.
Standard Display Method:
- Turn on the radio — If locked, the screen shows "CODE" or "Enter Code".
- Press and hold preset buttons 1 and 6 together for 2-5 seconds.
- The serial number appears — Typically 10 characters like
U1234L5678orA1234B5678.
Pilot-Specific Details:
- 2016-2022 Pilot (3rd gen) — All trim levels use either the 5-inch Display Audio (LX) or 8-inch touchscreen (EX, EX-L, Touring, Elite). Both support the 1+6 button method.
- 2023+ Pilot (4th gen) — The new 9-inch or 10.2-inch touchscreen may display the serial under Settings → System → About. Check there first before using button combinations.
- 2009-2015 Pilot (2nd gen) — CD/MP3 radios and the available Satellite-Linked Navigation system both respond to the 1+6 method.
Rear Entertainment Note: If your Pilot has the rear entertainment system, that unit has a separate serial number. The front radio serial is what you need for the unlock code.
2. The Serial Number on the Radio Sticker
To find the serial number, you'll need to pull out the radio unit from the dashboard.
- Start by turning off the ignition and taking off the dashboard bezel.
- Next, release the clips and pull the unit forward to check the label on the back of the radio. Be careful not to damage the cables.

Most Common Honda Pilot Serial Formats
The radio uses a serial in U####L#### format (e.g. U1234 L5678). Navigation systems may show a GNA or HBM prefix. This serial is required for code generation.

With your code ready, it's time to enter it into the Honda Pilot's radio.
The locked radio will usually show an "ENTER CODE" message.
Use the radio presets or a rotary dial to select each number, then press OK to activate the stereo.
Entering your unlock code in the Honda Pilot is simple:
- Turn on the ignition — The radio displays "CODE".
- Use preset buttons 1-5 to enter your 5-digit code. Each button sets one digit position:
- Press button 1 repeatedly until your first digit shows
- Press button 2 repeatedly until your second digit shows
- Continue through all 5 digits
- Confirm by pressing and holding button 6 for 2-5 seconds.
For Touchscreen Models: 2023+ Pilots with the large touchscreen may show an on-screen numeric keypad. Simply tap each digit and press "Enter" or "Confirm".
Lockout Warning: After 3 incorrect attempts, the radio locks for 1 hour. The ignition must stay ON during this time — turning it off resets the waiting period.
