Maserati GranTurismo's Most Common Unlock Code Triggers
Facing a locked Maserati GranTurismo radio? In most cases, it was triggered by one of these well-known situations.
Battery Replacement Radio Code Problem
When the battery is replaced, the Maserati GranTurismo radio enters anti-theft mode.
This factory protection system is designed to protect the original head unit by disabling the radio after electrical reset.
Other Situations
- A blown fuse can cause the Maserati GranTurismo radio to lock.
- Installing a used head unit will require the original radio code.
- Jump-starting the vehicle can trigger anti-theft mode, requiring the PIN.
- After an ECU or software reset, the radio may lock.
Free Options First
There is a chance your Maserati GranTurismo radio code is written down in your documents.
Before using a paid service, take a few minutes check the places below - it costs nothing to look.
Search the Vehicle Documents
- On a label in the glove compartment.
- In the service booklet provided with the car.
- In the radio manual, often on a separate page.
- On the head unit casing if the unit was previously removed.
- Near the trunk lining, where some manufacturers place radio labels.
Can the Dealer Help?
A Maserati dealer can usually look up the radio code using your GranTurismo's VIN.
In most cases, you need to visit or contact them and show vehicle documents.
Once verified, they can generate the original unlock code for your radio.
Not Always Ideal:
- Dealers often charge a fee for the lookup service and it can cost more than 100$.
- Some older Maserati GranTurismo radios may require manual lookup.
- The process can take hours depending on the model and database.
- You usually need to book an appointment and bring vehicle paperwork.
How to Find the S/N on a GranTurismo's Radio
To get the correct unlock code, you will need the serial number from your Maserati GranTurismo's radio unit.
You can usually find it directly on the screen. Common labels to look for: S/N, SN, Serial, Serial Number.
1. Get the S/N from Maserati GranTurismo's Display
The Maserati GranTurismo serial number method depends on generation.
GranTurismo 2007–2019 — Becker Radio
The classic GranTurismo uses a Becker CDR-220 style radio. Try the service menu first:
- Turn radio OFF, then press and hold TP for 10 seconds.
- Turn radio ON — display shows "Becker 1".
- Rotate the right knob to cycle through information until the serial number appears.
If the service menu is not accessible, the serial number is on a label on the radio chassis. Physical removal is required to read it. See the removal guide below.
GranTurismo 2023+ (New Generation)
The new GranTurismo uses a modern infotainment system. Check Settings → System → System Information or About for the serial number.
2. Locating your S/N on the Radio Itself
To find the serial number, you'll need to pull out the radio unit out.
- Start by turning off the ignition and removing the trim panel.
- Next, release the clips and slide the radio out to check the sticker on the back of the radio. Be careful not to damage the connections.
- Write down full serial number precisely and come back to the website.
- Know that serial number and part number are not the same thing. You will find both of them on the sticker, but you only need for the serial.

Now You Have the Corresponding Security Code. How the Entering Process Works?
Once you have the Maserati's security code, you can enter it using the infotainment controls.
Most radios display "ENTER CODE", "----" or "XXXX" message when they are locked.
You typically use the number keys to input the code.
After entering the full code, the radio will confirm the entry.
To enter your Maserati GranTurismo unlock code:
- Turn the ignition ON – The radio displays "CODE" or "----".
- Use preset radio buttons 1-4 to enter your 4-digit code. Press button "1" multiple times until the first correct digit appears, button "2" for the second digit, button "3" for the third digit, and button "4" for the fourth digit.
- The radio unlocks automatically once all 4 digits are entered correctly.
Lockout Warning: After multiple incorrect attempts, the radio may lock for 60 minutes. Keep the ignition ON during the waiting period.
Try not to make mistakes, because too many wrong attempts can disable your radio temporarily.
It will allow you a few incorrect tries before showing a SAFE message.
You can reset the lockout by leaving the radio on for 60 minutes or a set waiting period.
