How Serial-Based Jeep Renegade Radio Unlock Works
Getting your radio code takes only 4 easy steps.
- Find your radio's serial number - this is the only info required by our side.
The difference with the dealership lookup is that no VIN or paperwork is needed. - When you've found the S/N, type it into the form above.
Our system checks it against a database of supported units and automatically finds the matching radio code. - In most cases, the code appears instantly on the screen after payment and is also sent to your email for backup.
If we need to check it manually, you'll be notified before checkout. - When you receive the code, simply enter it into your radio to restore the functionality.
Got the Code? Here's How to Enter It
Once the system gives you 2023 Jeep Renegade unlock code from the serial, you're ready to reactivate the radio.
Some drivers hesitate at this stage because input process can look different across radio versions, but it's usually quick.
When the radio shows dashed lines, it means the unit is waiting for the correct numbers.
Step-by-Step - Correct Entering Process
To enter the code on your 2023 Jeep Renegade's Uconnect 7.0":
- Ignition ON. Screen shows "ENTER CODE" or ----.
- Use the touchscreen keypad to enter each digit of the 4-digit code.
- The radio auto-confirms after entering the 4th digit.
Lockout: 3 wrong attempts = 60-minute lockout. Keep ignition ON. Do not turning off the ignition during the lockout period.
How Serial Numbers Work and Where to Find Them on 2023 Jeep Renegade Radios
Very useful thing to know is that factory radios use a specific S/N to identify each unitindividually.
The security system links the code directly to the serial.
Unlike car-specific data such as VIN or registration info, it is not determined by the model or production year, so you'll be able to generate it even if you have an aftermarket radio.
Depending on the manufacturer and radio installed in your Jeep Renegade, the access method varies.
These are the best ways to locate it.
Which Head Unit Is in Your 2023 Renegade?
2023 is a transitional year for the BU Renegade in some markets: the Uconnect 4C 8.4-inch is still common on early-build cars, but later builds and certain markets transition to the new Uconnect 5 system as Stellantis rolls out the platform across Jeep and Ram by 2022-2023.
- Uconnect 4C 8.4-inch (
UAQ-style, carry-over) - 8.4-inch touchscreen, fitted on early-build 2023 Renegades and certain markets. Visual ID: large 8.4-inch screen filling the dash opening edge to edge, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto present, with a NAV/Map tile on the home screen on NAV-equipped cars. Salvage parts catalogues continue to list 2021-2023 Renegade 8.4-inch Uconnect display heads (Mopar part 68472398AA). - Uconnect 5 (newer 8.4-inch fitment) - Android-based Uconnect 5 platform, fitted on later-build 2023 cars in some markets as part of the Stellantis-wide rollout. Visual ID: revised home-screen layout, faster widget tiles and the new Uconnect 5 splash screen at boot; user-account and over-the-air features differ from Uconnect 4.
Field check: classic Uconnect 4 home screen with the familiar tile grid = Uconnect 4C, newer card-style layout with Uconnect 5 splash on boot = Uconnect 5.
Check the Display First - Serial Retrieval Without Tools
The method for 2023 Jeep Renegade is this:
The 2023 Jeep Renegade features the Uconnect 7.0" touchscreen (RA2.1). This system supports a Dealer Mode for serial number retrieval:
- Turn ignition to ACC or ON.
- Press and hold the Temperature Up and Temperature Down buttons together for roughly 5 seconds.
- The Engineering Menu appears on the 7" screen.
- Select: System Info → Target Main Data → Serial Number.
Note: On the 7" Uconnect, the menu navigation is slightly different from the 8.4" version. Look for "Target Main Data" instead of "Radio Part Info".
Find the Serial by Pulling Out the Unit
If the serial number cannot be accessed via display, use the hardware method.
Most Jeep Renegade original radios include a sticker with the serial number printed on the housing.
Steps:
- Switch off the vehicle.
- Detach the trim surrounding the radio.
- Unscrew the clips.
- Slide the unit slightly out to access the label.
The serial number is usually located near the manufacturer sticker.
If the on-screen method fails on your 2023 Jeep Renegade, pull out the radio to find the serial label:
- Power down the vehicle.
- Remove the trim panel around the 7" screen. Use a plastic trim tool to prevent scratching.
- Unscrew the 4 mounting screws (Phillips).
- Pull the radio out to see the serial label on the unit.
The 2023 Renegade's dashboard is compact. Take your time when prying off the trim so you don't breaking the fasteners.
Manufacturer Label Inspection
For the 2023 Renegade the printed chassis sticker remains the authoritative source for the radio serial - it is the same approach for both Uconnect 4C carry-over units and the newer Uconnect 5 head units fitted on later-build cars. The BU centre stack still puts the radio above the climate cluster, so removal needs to be careful and methodical.
- Safety first: turn the ignition off, take out the key, disconnect the negative battery terminal, and wait a few minutes before touching wiring; never disturb the yellow airbag/SRS connectors and use plastic trim tools to avoid shorts and broken clips.
- Tools you will need: plastic trim removal kit, Phillips and small Torx bit set, 7mm/10mm socket set, flashlight.
- Pop the centre stack bezel free using a plastic pry tool starting at the lower edge and working up the sides; on the BU Renegade the bezel sits adjacent to the climate vents, so keep pressure even.
- Unclip any switch/HVAC connectors at the rear of the bezel before setting the trim aside on a clean cloth.
- Remove the screws (typically four, two upper and two lower) holding the radio cage to the dash support bracket.
- Slide the radio rearward and disconnect the antenna lead and the multi-pin power/data harness on the back.
- The serial number sits on a printed barcode/sticker label on the top or side of the radio chassis, next to the part number and supplier markings (Continental, Magneti Marelli, Visteon, Harman or Stellantis-spec on Uconnect 5 builds).
- Photograph the label and double-check ambiguous characters such as 0/O, 1/I and B/8 before submitting the serial. If you are not comfortable working around airbag wiring, have a professional installer take the unit out for you.

Typical Serial Number Examples for 2023 Renegade
The 2023 Jeep Renegade with Uconnect 7.0" features:
T00AM– Standard Harman prefixT00BE– Continental version
Radio designation: RA2.1 (Uconnect 7.0" touchscreen). The Renegade uses the same radio platform with other Stellantis compact vehicles. Serial: 14 characters, alphanumeric.
S/N format is identical across all Uconnect variants – only the Dealer Mode entry method differs.
S/N Patterns and Prefixes
The factory radios on the 2023 Renegade follow several different serial styles. Uconnect 4C carry-over units use the same supplier-led prefixes seen on earlier BU Renegades, while the newer Uconnect 5 head units use a different chassis label format. The printed sticker on the unit is the authoritative reference in both cases.
Uconnect 4C 8.4 (carry-over)
- Often a 14-character alphanumeric string printed on the chassis label.
- Continental-built variants are commonly seen with an
A2Cprefix, while Mopar-style units may begin withT(frequent prefixes includeT00AM,TM9andTQ1). - Usually a continuous run of letters and digits with no dashes or spaces.
Uconnect 5
- No publicly-confirmed Renegade-specific Uconnect 5 prefix list exists at this time, so always copy the serial exactly as printed on the chassis label.
- Avoid guessing characters that look unclear; the printed sticker is the authoritative reference.
Fixing Common Code Entry Problems for 2023 Renegade
If the 7" Uconnect does not show after a power reconnection:
- Make sure the ignition is fully ON and give a moment for the RA2.1 system to initialize.
- Check the radio fuse — fuse failure prevents the display from showing anything.
- On these models, the button press for Engineering Mode does not affect the code prompt — the prompt appears when the radio powers on normally.
If nothing appears, check the fuse before anything else.
The 7" Uconnect on the 2023 Jeep Renegade supports on-screen serial retrieval via the Engineering Menu: hold Temperature Up + Temperature Down for 5 seconds, then navigate to System Info → Target Main Data → Serial Number.
- Serial number — 14 characters, prefixed by
T00AMorT00BE. This is what to use. - Part number — begins with
Por68. Not the serial.
On this system, the menu path uses "Target Main Data" rather than "Radio Part Info" — this is the correct path, not an error.
When a code is rejected on the Uconnect 7.0" usually means a serial number mismatch. The 7" (RA2.1) serial is 14 characters, prefixed by T00AM or T00BE. The P-number (P... or 68...) also appears on the label but generates no code.
Dealer Mode is the most reliable method to verify the serial on these models before submitting. Reach out for a free re-check if anything seems wrong.
After 3 wrong attempts on the 7" Uconnect cause a 60-minute lockout. The screen shows "WAIT" or ceases accepting input. To handle the lockout:
- Leave the ignition ON for the full 60 minutes.
- Cycling the key at any point restarts the 60-minute wait.
This lockout behavior is identical to the 8.4" Uconnect. Be patient — the countdown only progresses while power is on.
The Uconnect 7.0" (RA2.1) uses the touchscreen exclusively for code entry — no physical preset buttons are used in the process. When the code entry prompt is on screen:
- Press each digit on the virtual number pad.
- The radio unlocks after the 4th digit — no submit step is needed.
Note that the Engineering Menu (Temperature Up + Temperature Down hold) is for serial retrieval only — it is not how you enter the code.
Why Did the Radio Lock and Ask for a Code?
The 2023 Renegade sees radio lockouts most commonly from:
- Battery disconnect or replacement — the most frequent reason on all Uconnect platforms, including the 7" system.
- Dead battery from urban use — Renegades used as city and commuter vehicles may see battery issues from short-trip driving patterns, causing the anti-theft to activate.
- Blown fuse — a blown radio fuse cuts the radio supply and causes the code request.
- Used purchase — common in the used car market, and the code is often missing at time of purchase.
The unlock code is permanently tied to the radio serial and never changes.
