Locate the Serial Number Needed to Generate Jeep Renegade 2021 Radio Code
The initial step is finding the radio serial.
Many people assume the code depends on the Jeep model or year, but actually, the whole process relies on the unique radio's serial number.
Each radio has its own serial tied to the security system.
This is even better, because if you have bought an aftermarket radio, the VIN or other Jeep-specific data wouldn't help.
Depending on the radio used, you may be able to see the serial directly from the screen or by looking at the label on the radio chassis.
Identify Your 2021 Renegade's Factory Radio
The 2021 Renegade continues with the Uconnect 4 family on the Italian-built BU platform. There are three head units to identify across the trim ladder: a small 5-inch base unit, a 7-inch Uconnect 4 and an 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C NAV.
Base 5-inch radio is the entry head unit, fitted to the Sport trim. Visual ID: compact 5-inch display flanked by hard buttons; no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on this fitment.
Uconnect 4 7-inch is the mid-tier touchscreen, non-NAV, standard on Latitude, Upland, Altitude and most Limited trims. Visual ID: 7-inch screen centred in the dash bezel; Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, but the home screen has no Map/NAV tile.
Uconnect 4C NAV 8.4-inch (UAQ-style) is the 8.4-inch touchscreen with built-in GPS, optional on Limited and Trailhawk and frequently bundled with the BeatsAudio premium pack. Visual ID: large 8.4-inch screen filling the dash opening, with a dedicated NAV/Map tile on the home screen and on-board maps bundled.
Telling the 7-inch from the 8.4-inch is purely a matter of physical screen size and the Map tile. If the screen size is identical to a friend's 8.4-inch fitment but no Map tile appears, the unit is a non-NAV 8.4-inch (rare on Renegade, more common on Cherokee).
Check the Display First - Serial Retrieval Without Tools
The method for 2021 Jeep Renegade is this:
The 2021 Jeep Renegade features the Uconnect 7.0" touchscreen (RA2.1). The 7" Uconnect has a Dealer Mode for serial number display:
- Turn ignition to ACC or ON.
- Hold down the Temperature Up and Temperature Down buttons simultaneously for approximately 5 seconds.
- The Engineering Menu appears on the 7" screen.
- Navigate to: System Info → Target Main Data → Serial Number.
Note: On the 7" Uconnect, the menu path is a bit different from the 8.4" version. Look for "Target Main Data" instead of "Radio Part Info".
Access the S/N by Pulling Out the Radio Unit
If the serial does not appear in menu, the next step is checking the radio itself.
Many Jeep radios require physical access to the serial tag attached to the unit.
Usual approach:
- Start by completely powering down the engine - pull the key out.
- Then remove the radio surround.
- Next, unscrew the mounting points and slide the radio forward.
- Look for a factory sticker showing the serial number.
If Engineering Mode is unavailable on your 2021 Jeep Renegade, extract the radio to access the serial label:
- Turn off the vehicle.
- Pry off the center stack trim surrounding the 7" display. Use a plastic trim tool to prevent scratching.
- Unscrew the four mounting screws (Phillips).
- Slide the radio out to access the serial label on the chassis.
The 2021 Renegade's dashboard is relatively tight. Work carefully when removing the trim to prevent breaking the clips.
Renegade's Hardware Label Method
The most reliable way to read a 2021 Renegade radio serial is from the printed sticker on the chassis. The Italian-built BU uses a centre stack with the climate cluster directly under the head unit, so methodical removal is essential.
Safety first. Switch the ignition off, take out the key, disconnect the negative battery terminal, and wait a few minutes before touching wiring. Avoid the yellow airbag/SRS connectors entirely and use plastic trim tools so nothing shorts or breaks.
Tools you will need. Plastic trim removal kit, Phillips and small Torx bit set, 7mm/10mm socket set, flashlight. For the base 5-inch radio a pair of DIN radio release keys may also be required to release the chassis from its sleeve.
Removal overview. Pry the centre stack bezel free with a plastic trim tool starting at the lower edge and working up the sides; on the BU Renegade the bezel sits adjacent to the climate vents, so keep pressure even. Unplug any switch/HVAC connectors at the rear of the bezel before laying it on a clean cloth. Remove the screws (typically four, two upper and two lower) holding the radio cage to the support bracket, slide the radio rearward, and disconnect the antenna lead and the multi-pin power/data harness on the back.
Where the serial sits. The serial number is printed on a barcode/sticker label on the top or side of the radio chassis, alongside the part number and supplier markings (Continental, Magneti Marelli, Visteon or Harman).
Tips. Photograph the label up close and double-check ambiguous characters such as 0/O, 1/I and B/8 before submitting the serial. If working around airbag wiring is uncomfortable, have a professional installer take the unit out for you.

Serial Number Format Guide for 2021 Jeep Renegade
The 2021 Jeep Renegade with Uconnect 7.0" uses:
T00AM– Most common Harman prefixT00BE– Continental version
Radio designation: RA2.1 (Uconnect 7.0" touchscreen). The Renegade uses the same radio platform with other Stellantis compact vehicles. Serial: 14 characters, alphanumeric.
The serial format is consistent across all Uconnect variants – only the Dealer Mode entry method differs.
Standard Serial Number Patterns on This Radio
The factory radios on the 2021 Renegade can carry serials in a few different styles because the Italian-built BU uses a different supplier mix to the US-built Mopar/Uconnect cars. The exact prefix depends on which Uconnect tier shipped with the car and whether the unit was built by Continental, Magneti Marelli, Visteon or Harman, so the printed sticker on the chassis is the authoritative reference.
Uconnect 4 7-inch and Uconnect 4C 8.4 (NAV)
The serial is often a 14-character alphanumeric string printed on the chassis label. Continental-built variants are commonly seen with an A2C prefix, while Mopar-style units may begin with T (frequent prefixes include T00AM, TM9 and TQ1). The serial is usually a continuous run of letters and digits with no dashes or spaces.
Base 5-inch radio
Owner reports describe shorter 5-digit numeric serials or A3C-style codes printed on the back of the chassis. Always use the label on the unit itself as the authoritative reference, and copy the serial exactly as printed without guessing characters that look unclear.
How Serial-Based Jeep Renegade Radio Unlock Works
To get the code, you'll take only 4 easy steps.
- Locate your radio's serial - this is the only info required to generate the correct unlock code.
Unlike dealership lookup, no VIN or paperwork is needed. - When you've found the S/N, type it into the form above.
Our system checks it against a database of supported radios and automatically catches the matching security code. - In most cases, the code will appear instantly on the screen after payment and is also sent to your email for backup.
If we need to check it manually, you'll be informed before checkout. - Once you get it, just enter it into the radio to restore full functionality.
Unlocking the Radio After Code Generation
Once the system gives you 2021 Jeep Renegade anti-theft code from the serial, you're ready to reactivate the radio.
Many drivers hesitate at this stage because input process can look different across radio versions, but it's usually simple.
When the radio shows dashed lines, it means the unit is waiting for the correct numbers.
The Correct Way to Enter It
To enter the code on your 2021 Jeep Renegade's Uconnect 7.0":
- Ignition ON. Screen displays "ENTER CODE" or ----.
- Tap the touchscreen keypad to enter each digit of the 4-digit code.
- The radio unlocks automatically after entering the 4th digit.
Lockout: 3 wrong attempts = 60-minute lockout. Keep ignition ON. Do not turning off the ignition during the lockout period.
Correct Entering Process
Once the unlock code is in hand, the 2021 Renegade Uconnect head unit can be unlocked directly at the dash - no scan tool or dealer visit required. On many BU Renegades the original 4-digit code is also printed on a small sticker inside the glovebox (labelled "Anti-theft radio code"), so that location is worth checking first.
Limited attempts. Mopar/Uconnect head units only accept three incorrect tries before the radio drops into a WAIT state, so verify every digit before pressing it.
Entering the code. Place the ignition in RUN/ACC so the radio powers up but the engine stays off. Wait for the display to show CODE, Please enter Anti-Theft Code, or a similar prompt. On the 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C NAV, tap the on-screen number pad and confirm with the OK/Enter touch button. On the 7-inch Uconnect 4, use the on-screen keypad. On the base 5-inch radio, use the numbered preset buttons (1-6) on the fascia to key the code in sequence as the unit prompts.
If a wrong code was entered. If WAIT appears after incorrect attempts, leave the radio powered with the ignition in RUN for the documented cool-down period (about 30 minutes; the vehicle may be driven during this time) before trying the correct code again.
Why Did the Radio Lock and Ask for a Code?
The 2021 Renegade sees radio lockouts primarily from:
- Battery disconnect or replacement — the primary cause on all Uconnect platforms, including the 7" system.
- Dead battery from urban use — Renegades used as city and commuter vehicles can experience battery drain from heavy infotainment use on short journeys, causing the anti-theft to activate.
- Blown fuse — a blown radio fuse interrupts power and causes the code request.
- Used purchase — common in the used car market, and the code is often missing at time of purchase.
The unlock code is permanently tied to the radio serial and does not expire.
Understanding Unlock Issues with Your Renegade
The Uconnect 7.0" (RA2.1) uses the touchscreen exclusively for code entry — no hardware number buttons are used in the process. When the code entry prompt is on screen:
- Touch each digit on the virtual number pad.
- The radio auto-confirms after the last digit — no submit step is needed.
Note that the Engineering Menu (Temperature Up + Temperature Down hold) is only used to find the serial — it is not how you enter the code.
After 3 wrong attempts on the 7" Uconnect activate a 60-minute lockout. The screen displays "WAIT" or ceases accepting input. To handle the lockout:
- Keep the ignition ON for the entire 60 minutes.
- Cycling the key at any point restarts the 60-minute wait.
The 7" Uconnect lockout is the same as the other Uconnect platform variants. Be patient — the timer only counts while power is on.
Should no code entry screen appear after a power reconnection:
- Make sure the ignition is fully ON and give a moment for the Uconnect 7" to boot.
- Check the radio fuse — fuse failure prevents the display from powering up.
- On the Renegade and Compass, the button press for Engineering Mode is separate from the code prompt — the prompt appears when the radio powers on normally.
If nothing appears, inspect the fuse box first.
The RA2.1 system on the 2021 Jeep Renegade supports on-screen serial retrieval via the Engineering Menu: hold Temperature Up + Temperature Down for 5 seconds, then navigate to System Info → Target Main Data → Serial Number.
- Serial number — 14 characters, starting with
T00AMorT00BE. This is what to use. - Part number — starts with
Por68. Do not use.
Note that on the 7" Uconnect, the menu path uses "Target Main Data" rather than "Radio Part Info" — that is normal for this system, not an error.
When a code is rejected on the Uconnect 7.0" usually means a serial number mismatch. The 7" (RA2.1) serial is 14 characters, prefixed by T00AM or T00BE. The part number (P... or 68...) is also shown on the label but generates no code.
Dealer Mode is the most reliable method to confirm the serial on the Renegade and Compass before placing your order. Reach out for a free re-check if anything seems wrong.
