Once the code arrives
The code goes straight into the radio, not into the car's menus.

The screen shows a wait timer
The timer is the radio guarding itself after failed entries - power on, patience, then try again. Three wrong entries triggers a 60-minute "WAIT" countdown on screen. Keep the ignition in RUN or ACC for the timer to count down - cutting power resets it to 60 minutes. Once the timer expires the keypad reactivates and the correct code clears the screen.

Locked again after it was fine
Nothing is broken. Any interruption to the 12V supply brings the lock screen back. Loss of constant 12V - dead battery, battery replacement, alternator service, body-shop repairs that disconnect the battery, or removal of the radio from the dash. The most common report on REL is from Ram trucks after a winter dead-battery jump.
