How Our Radio Code Generator Works for 2021 Renault Clio
- Skip long troubleshooting discussions or service visits - you can generate the code online with the radio S/N.
- First locate the serial number. You will always find it on the unit itself, and in some cases it can be visible on the Clio's display.
- Enter it into the form above, and our software will retrieve the correct 2021 Clio unlock code.
- After getting it, type it in using Clio's radio controls to release the blockade fully.
- The entire process takes only a few minutes and requires zero paperwork and no dealer visit.
Radio Code Input Guide
When you obtain the correct unlock code based on the serial number, you can restore default functionality by entering it into the unit.
The code entry process depends on the head unit design, but most 2021 Clio systems follow a similar structure using preset buttons, touch controls, or rotary knobs - depending on if it's a factory or an aftermarket unit.
You will typically see ENTER CODE displayed on screen.
Entering Process
To enter the code on the 2021 Renault Clio:
- Ignition ON. Radio shows "CODE" or four dashes (----).
- Press preset buttons 1-4 to enter each digit of the 4-digit code. Each press advances the digit (0-9).
- Hold button 5 or button 6 to submit.
Lockout: Several incorrect entries will cause a lockout. Turn off the radio for approximately 30 minutes, then retry.
Understanding the Radio Serial Number and How to Locate It on 2021 Clio
The starting step is finding the radio serial.
Most drivers assume the code depends on the Renault model or year, but in reality, the whole process depends on the unique radio unit's serial number.
The serial is the key used to calculate the correct unlock code.
This is actually better, because if you have bought an aftermarket radio, the VIN or other vehicle-specific data wouldn't be of much use.
Depending on the radio used, you can see the serial directly from the screen or by checking the label on the radio chassis.
Identify Your 2021 Clio's Factory Radio
- EASY LINK 7-inch (landscape) - fitted to entry and mid trims. DAB, Bluetooth, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Visual cue: horizontal screen oriented across the dash, with a capacitive control strip on the bezel side.
- EASY LINK 9.3-inch (portrait) - fitted to higher trims and offered as an option on mid trims. Embedded TomTom navigation with 3D mapping, OTA map updates, and Renault connected services. Visual cue: tall vertical screen dominating the center stack.
- E-Tech hybrid variant - the same EASY LINK head units carry an additional energy-flow display menu specific to the hybrid powertrain. The head unit hardware is identical to non-hybrid Clio variants.
- Quick field test - if the screen is taller than it is wide, the unit is the 9.3-inch EASY LINK. A horizontal screen indicates the 7-inch unit.
Access Your Serial Number via the Radio Screen
Try the following for your 2021 Renault Clio:
The 2021 Renault Clio is equipped with a Blaupunkt OEM radio or MediaNav system. Many Renault radios don't support an on-screen serial number retrieval method.
The serial number is located on a label on the radio unit. The radio must be partially removed to read it. Some newer Clio with MediaNav may show the serial in Settings → System.
Releasing the Unit to View the S/N on the Tag
If the serial does not appear on screen, the next step is checking the radio itself.
Many Renault radios require physical access to the ID label attached to the unit.
Usual approach:
- Start by completely turning off the engine - pull the key out.
- Then detach the radio surround.
- Next, release the mounting points and pull the radio forward.
- Look for a barcode label showing the serial number.
To access the serial on the 2021 Renault Clio:
- Turn off the vehicle.
- Locate the extraction holes on both sides of the radio. Renault radios commonly use pin-release removal slots.
- Insert radio release keys and pull the radio forward.
- Find the serial on the barcode label on the casing. It starts with CC.
Note: Renault extraction tools are the same European-style tools used for Fiat vehicles.
Find the Serial by Pulling Out the Unit
- Why professional service is recommended - the EASY LINK module is integrated with the climate control surround, the connected services antenna wiring, and the body CAN bus. DIY removal frequently damages the bezel or the dashboard soft-touch surfaces.
- Mandatory safety steps - ignition off, key card removed, negative battery terminal disconnected, minimum five-minute wait before touching the dash. Yellow SRS connectors must not be disturbed under power.
- Tools - plastic trim removal wedges, Torx bit set, small ratchet and extensions, flashlight, phone camera for the chassis label.
- Removal sequence - unclip the screen bezel with plastic tools, release the retaining fasteners behind the bezel, ease the unit forward, then unplug the multi-pin harness only once the unit is fully free.
- Do not power the radio while partially disconnected - this can trigger fault codes on the body control module.
- Serial location - on a sticker on the top or side of the metal chassis, labelled S/N or Serial, separate from the part number and the production barcode. The unlock code is not printed on the unit.
- Photograph and verify - take a clear photo and double-check 0 versus O, 1 versus I, and 8 versus B before submission.
- If resistance is high - stop and consult a qualified auto-electrician. The Mk5 dashboard is not designed for repeated disassembly.

S/N Patterns and Prefixes
The 2021 Renault Clio radio serial prefixes:
BP####– Blaupunkt radio serial (standard)CC####– Continental radio serialPH####– Philips radio serialPR####– Other Renault OEM format
The serial is printed on the radio casing. Don't confuse it with the Renault part number.
S/N Patterns and Prefixes
- Serial format is set by the head unit manufacturer rather than the vehicle brand. Both EASY LINK variants on the 2021 Clio carry an alphanumeric serial of mixed letters and digits.
- The serial is typically labelled S/N, Serial, or SN on the chassis sticker. It is distinct from the part number and from the production barcode beneath it.
- Typical length is in the 8 to 14 character range, although exact length varies by supplier and production batch.
- Do not submit the part number, the hardware revision code, or the EAN-style barcode. Only the field tagged S/N or Serial is valid for code retrieval.
- Re-check 0 versus O, 1 versus I, and 8 versus B before submission. These are the most frequently misread characters on EASY LINK labels.
Clio 2021 Common Radio Problems
The display shows "WAIT" or "SAFE" after 3 wrong code attempts, blocking further input until the timer expires.
To clear the lockout: Turn the ignition to ON and keep it in that position for a full 60 minutes. Turning the ignition off resets the countdown to zero. This is particularly important — the timer does not pause, it restarts.
On Renault models, battery drain during a long wait is possible. Run the engine or connect a charger where practical to prevent the timer restarting.
Finding the serial on Renault radios can be found on a sticker on the rear or side of the radio unit, only accessible after removing the unit.
- Expected format: The serial starts with BP, CC, PH, or PR followed by 8–10 alphanumeric characters.
- If the label is hard to read: Older Renault labels can be faded. Photograph under good light and zoom in — detail is easier to read in a zoomed image.
- Removal tools: Standard DIN release keys fit all Renault models. Insert into the release slots on each side and draw the unit out far enough to read the rear label.
Do not use the vehicle VIN or dashboard label number — these produce an incorrect code.
Entering the unlock code on Renault passenger car radios relies on the preset station buttons to build the code digit by digit.
- Button 1 sets the first digit — each press cycles from 0 to 9.
- Button 2 controls digit 2, button 3 digit 3, button 4 digit 4.
- After setting all digits, hold down button 5, button 6, or the Enter / AM-FM button to confirm.
Important: Newer Renault models with a MediaNav touchscreen use a touchscreen code entry pad. Tap the digits on the on-screen number pad. The touchscreen confirms automatically.
When the radio does not accept your code, work through these points before making another attempt.
- Verify the serial prefix: Renault radios use serials starting with BP, CC, PH, or PR. Confirm you entered the full serial from the radio label — not any other sticker inside the car.
- Look for digit confusion: With older Blaupunkt/Philips stickers, 0 and O, 1 and I, and 8 and B look similar. Photograph the label and zoom in.
- Entry method: Pressing button 1 cycles digit 1 from 0 to 9. Pressing too quickly can skip over the correct digit. Count each press and take it slowly. Hold button 5 or 6 to confirm only after all four digits are set.
If it keeps failing? Contact us with your serial number and we'll check and reissue if needed.
When the radio starts but does not ask for a code, try the following:
- Force the code prompt: Pull the radio fuse briefly, reconnect, and turn the ignition on. The CODE prompt should appear.
- It may already be working: If the radio plays stations and responds to all controls, it is not locked. No code entry is needed.
- On MediaNav touchscreen versions: MediaNav does not show a code prompt the same way. Check Settings → System for unlock or serial options.
- Ignition position: Older Renault radios may only show the code prompt when the ignition is in ACC or ON. Check both positions.
Why Is the Radio Asking for a Code?
Battery replacement is the number one reason for a locked radio on Renault vehicles, but several other situations worth knowing:
- Battery replacement: Battery replacement is the top reason across all Renault models. Renault radios lock every time the battery is disconnected or replaced. This is extremely common, even during a very short disconnect.
- Second-hand purchase: The radio code is rarely passed on when a car changes hands. Private sellers and dealers often do not have it.
- Discharged battery: A completely flat battery triggers the code request when power is restored.
- Service disconnect: Service that disconnects the battery — even routine maintenance — can trigger the lock.
