Can't Locate Your Unit's S/N? Follow These Steps for Dodge Caravan 2013
The starting step is writing down the radio S/N.
Many people assume the code depends on the Dodge model or year, but in reality, the unlock process depends on the unique radio's serial number.
This number identifies the exact head unit installed in your Dodge Caravan.
This is even better, because if you have bought a used radio, the VIN or other vehicle-specific data wouldn't be of much use.
Based on the radio version used, you may be able to see the serial directly from the display or by checking the label on the radio chassis.
Access Your Serial Number on the Radio Display
The method for 2013 Dodge Caravan is this:
The 2013 Dodge Caravan is a family minivan and comes with the Uconnect 8.4" (RA3) touchscreen. The serial number can be retrieved directly from the screen using Dealer Mode.
Climate Button Method:
- Turn the ignition to ACC or ON.
- In the Caravan's center stack, the Climate Up, Climate Down, and Front Defrost buttons sit below the 8.4" screen. Hold all three at once for 5 seconds.
- Dealer Mode appears on the screen.
- Go to: System Info → Radio Part Info → Serial Number.
Alternative: Hold Temperature Up (red) and Temperature Down (blue) for 5 seconds to enter Engineering Mode, then navigate to the serial.
Pulling Out the Radio to Access the S/N on the Tag
If the serial does not appear on display, the next step is checking the radio itself.
Many Dodge radios require physical access to the serial sticker attached to the unit.
Common approach:
- Start by completely powering down the engine - pull the key out.
- Then lift the dashboard bezel.
- Next, release the mounting points and pull the radio forward.
- Look for a printed tag showing the serial number.
If Dealer Mode is inaccessible on your 2013 Caravan, the radio needs to be removed to find the serial label. The Caravan's minivan center stack makes the process manageable from the front seat:
- Remove the center bezel – The Caravan's center trim panel covers the 8.4" display and HVAC section. Using a plastic trim tool, start at the lower edges to pop off the friction clips.
- Remove the 4 mounting screws – Torx T20 or Phillips screws at the radio frame corners.
- Pull the radio forward – Slide the unit out enough to see the serial label on the top or side unit.
The serial is a 14-character code on a barcode sticker. The wiring harness can stay connected.

These are the Common Serial Formats
The 2013 Dodge Caravan's Uconnect 8.4" (RA3) features these common serial formats:
T00AM– Harman VP2 Uconnect (standard format)T00BE– Continental-made variantTM9– Earlier Harman production
Radio designation: RA3 (or VP2 with optional premium audio). Serial: 14 characters.
Note The Caravan's label also lists a part number (P05064... or 68...). The serial number alone is needed for the unlock code.
Code Entry Instructions
Once you have the serial number and received the unlock code, the next step is entering it into your radio.
Dodge OEM units display a ENTER CODE message when ready for input.
The process is simple, but button layouts and confirmation methods may change depending on the radio version installed in your Caravan.
The Correct Way to Enter It
Entering the unlock code on the 2013 Caravan's Uconnect 8.4":
- With ignition ON, the screen shows "ENTER CODE".
- Use the on-screen keypad to enter your 4-digit code. The Caravan's 8.4" screen is easy to reach from the front.
- The radio auto-confirms after the 4th digit — no confirm button is required.
Lockout: 3 wrong entries = 60-minute lockout. Leave ignition ON. Turning it off starts the countdown over.
Locked Caravan Radio? Here's Exactly How to Get the Code
To get the code, you'll take only 4 easy steps.
- Locate the radio's serial number - this is the only information required to generate the correct unlock code.
Unlike when contacting the dealer, no VIN or paperwork is needed. - When you've found the S/N, type it into the form above.
Our system checks it against a database of supported radios and automatically finds the matching security code. - In most cases, the code will appear instantly on the screen after you pay and is also sent to your email for backup.
If we need to check it manually, you'll be notified before checkout. - Once you get it, just enter it into the radio to restore the functionality.
Why Is the Radio Asking for a Code?
Caravan owners face radio lockouts primarily due to:
- Heavy family use battery wear — Family vehicles with constant use of chargers, DVD players, and rear fans drain batteries faster, making replacements more frequent and every replacement triggers the code.
- Extended parking — family minivans parked for extended periods may drain enough to lock the radio.
- Battery replacement — any battery swap activates the lock.
- Used purchase — minivans change hands frequently, so many buyers encounter the locked radio.
The code is permanently tied to the radio serial number and always remains valid.
Understanding Unlock Issues with Your Caravan
Code rejection on this minivan typically means the wrong serial was used. The RA3 label contains both the serial (14 characters, prefixed by T00AM, T00BE, or TM9) and the part number (P... or 68...) — submit only the serial.
Re-check the serial via Dealer Mode or the label and reach out for a free re-check if needed.
The Caravan's Uconnect 8.4" uses touchscreen-only code entry — no preset buttons are involved. Once "ENTER CODE" appears:
- Press each number on the on-screen keypad.
- The radio auto-unlocks after the last digit entered — no "OK" button is required.
If the touchscreen doesn't respond, turn the ignition off and back on, then wait for the system to restart.
Three wrong attempts on the Caravan's Uconnect trigger a 60-minute lockout showing "WAIT":
- Leave the Caravan's ignition ON — doesn't need to run but key must stay in ON.
- Wait the full 60 minutes.
- Turning the Caravan off restarts the wait from scratch.
Once clear, enter the correct code.
When no code prompt appears after a battery event:
- Ensure the ignition is in ON (not just ACC) and give the system a moment to boot up.
- Inspect the radio fuse — a blown fuse stops the radio from powering.
- Certain models respond to a brief touch to activate the code entry screen.
If the screen stays dark, a blown fuse is worth checking first.
The RA3 label on the Caravan's radio contains multiple numbers:
- Serial number — 14 alphanumeric characters, starting with
T00AM,T00BE, orTM9. This is the one you need. - Part number — begins with
P05064or68. Ignore this.
The easiest way: Dealer Mode — System Info → Radio Part Info → Serial Number. No physical removal needed.
