To enter the unlock code on your Jeep Uconnect radio:
- Turn the ignition to the ON or ACC position (engine off is fine).
- The radio screen will display "ENTER CODE" or show four dashes (----).
- For touchscreen models (Uconnect 8.4" or 7" with touchscreen):
- Use the on-screen keypad to tap each digit of your 4-digit code.
- The code will appear on screen as you enter it.
- For button models (older Uconnect 430/730 systems):
- Use the preset buttons (1-4) to enter the code.
- Press button 1 repeatedly for the first digit (e.g., press 5 times for digit "5").

2012 Wrangler - Which Radio Did You Get?
For the 2012 Jeep Wrangler (JK), the factory radio line-up carried over from 2011 and continued to use the same Mopar anti-theft code system. Identifying your unit is the first step toward retrieving its code.
- RES (base AM/FM/CD/MP3): the standard non-touchscreen receiver on entry-trim Sport models. Single-DIN style face, dot-matrix display, hard buttons, CD/MP3 slot.
- RBZ - MyGIG 430 (6.5" touchscreen, no nav): the mid-tier factory MyGIG with a 6.5-inch colour touchscreen, AM/FM/CD/DVD, optional SiriusXM, and Bluetooth/USB on later builds.
- RHB - MyGIG 430N with Garmin navigation (6.5" touchscreen): the navigation MyGIG, with the same 6.5-inch screen as the RBZ plus the Garmin nav engine and onboard hard drive for media.
- Anti-theft note for 2012: starting in MY2012 Mopar radios shipped with the anti-theft feature active by default, so a code prompt at first power-up after a battery disconnect or radio swap is normal behaviour for this year.

JK Wrangler (2007–2018) — Physical Removal Required
The JK used Uconnect 430N or 730N with physical preset buttons — no touchscreen, no Dealer Mode. The JL brought a proper modern infotainment system. If your JL has the Uconnect 7": hold Temp Up + Temp Down for 5 seconds. The Engineering Menu opens. Navigate: System Info → Target Main Data → Serial Number.
If your JL has the Uconnect 8.4" NEW: press the bottom-left + bottom-right edges of the plastic bezel frame simultaneously until Dealer Mode opens. Navigate: System Info → Radio Part Info → Serial Number.
Note After 2020 software updates, some JL units have Dealer Mode restricted. If that's your situation, the physical removal method is the fallback.

If the on-screen method does not work on your vehicle, the radio can be physically removed to access the serial number label on the top or side of the unit:
- Remove the trim bezel – Carefully pry off the dashboard trim surrounding the radio using a plastic trim removal tool. The bezel is held by friction clips.
- Unscrew the mounting bolts – Remove the 4 mounting screws (usually Torx or Phillips) securing the radio to the dash frame.
- Slide the unit forward – Gently pull the radio out far enough to see the label. Do not disconnect the wiring harness unless necessary.
- Locate the serial number label – Locate a white or silver sticker with a barcode on the top or side of the unit. The serial number is a 14-character alphanumeric code (e.g.
T00AM394958584).

Locate Serial on Wrangler's Radio Chassis
- Why removal is the trustworthy method. On the 2012 Jeep Wrangler (JK), the radio's 14-character serial number is printed on a manufacturer label on the chassis itself. Pulling the unit and reading the label is the dependable way to capture the exact value, regardless of whether the car has the base RES receiver, the RBZ MyGIG 430, or the RHB MyGIG 430N with Garmin navigation.
- Safety first. Turn the ignition fully off and remove the key. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait several minutes for SRS / airbag capacitors to discharge. Stay clear of yellow airbag wiring, and release every connector by its lock tab rather than tugging.
- Tools to have on hand. A 7mm socket or nut driver for the dash bezel screws, a #2 Phillips screwdriver for the radio chassis, plastic pry/trim tools (or a tape-wrapped flat-blade screwdriver), a small parts tray, and a soft cloth to protect the dash pad.
- Free the HVAC bezel. The HVAC control bezel directly below the radio on the JK is held only by spring clips. Insert a plastic trim tool at one of the lower edges and work the panel outward in small steps until each clip releases, then tilt it forward and unplug the climate-control connector(s).
- Free the radio bezel. The radio trim bezel is also retained by perimeter clips. Work the same trim tool around its edges to release the clips. Tilt the bezel forward and disconnect any switches it carries (such as the rear defrost / hazard switches if mounted on the bezel of your trim).
- Unbolt the radio chassis. The radio is secured to the dash subframe by four 7mm-head screws (one near each corner of the mounting cage). Remove all four and keep them grouped so they are not mixed with the bezel hardware.
- Slide the radio out and disconnect. Pull the unit straight forward, then release the locking antenna connector and unplug the multi-pin electrical harness(es) at the back.
- Locate the S/N label. Inspect the top, side, and rear of the chassis for the manufacturer sticker showing a 14-character serial number commonly starting with
T, alongside a Mopar/Chrysler part number and barcode. Photograph it for clarity and transcribe it carefully (zero vs letter O). - Reinstall tips. Reconnect the antenna and harness before sliding the unit back in; avoid pinching the antenna cable; tighten the four screws snug but not over-torqued; align the bezel and press around its perimeter until you feel each clip seat.
