Radio Serial Number Explained - Finding It on Your Jeep
Very important thing to know is that factory radios use a unique serial number to identify each unit.
Your anti-theft system matches the code directly to this serial.
Unlike vehicle-specific data like VIN or registration information, it is not determined by the model or production year, so you'll be able to generate it even if you have a radio that you bought afterwards.
Depending on the manufacturer and radio installed in your Jeep Renegade, the access method varies.
These are the most reliable ways to locate it.
Factory Radios on the 2015 Jeep Renegade
The 2015 Renegade was the launch year of the BU platform - the first Jeep built outside the Americas, assembled at the Stellantis (then FCA) Melfi plant in Italy on the same Small Wide architecture as the Fiat 500X. Reflecting its European production, the Renegade was offered with a small family of Uconnect head units that varied by trim and region.
Factory units offered for 2015
- Uconnect 3 - small monochrome/non-touch head unit with AM/FM, USB, iPod and 3.5 mm aux input; standard on the base Sport trim and many entry European versions.
- Uconnect 5.0 (5.0BT) - 5-inch colour touchscreen with Bluetooth hands-free, audio streaming and voice command; standard or optional on Latitude and similar mid trims.
- Uconnect 6.5 / 6.5N (NAV) - 6.5-inch touchscreen with Garmin-based navigation on higher trims and option packages, often paired with HD Radio in the US market.
How to identify yours
- No touchscreen, just a small display and hard buttons - you have the Uconnect 3 base radio.
- A 5-inch touchscreen with no native turn-by-turn nav - that is the Uconnect 5.0.
- A larger 6.5-inch touchscreen with a Nav tile and on-screen mapping - that is the Uconnect 6.5/6.5N.
Access Your Serial Number via the Radio Screen
These are the steps you need to follow for 2015 Jeep Renegade:
The 2015 Jeep Renegade comes with the Uconnect 7.0" touchscreen (RA2.1). This system includes a Dealer Mode for serial number access:
- Turn ignition to ACC or ON.
- Hold down the Temperature Up and Temperature Down buttons together for approximately 5 seconds.
- The Engineering Menu appears on the 7" screen.
- Navigate to: System Info → Target Main Data → Serial Number.
Note: On the 7" Uconnect, the menu navigation is slightly different from the 8.4" version. Look for "Target Main Data" instead of "Radio Part Info".
Serial Number on the Unit
If the serial number cannot be accessed via display, use the removal method.
Most Jeep Renegade OEM radios include a label with the serial number printed on the casing.
Step-by-Step:
- Power down the vehicle.
- Detach the trim surrounding the radio.
- Loosen the clips.
- Slide the unit slightly out to access the label.
The serial number is usually located near the manufacturer sticker.
If Dealer Mode doesn't work on your 2015 Jeep Renegade, remove the radio to read the serial label:
- Turn off the vehicle.
- Remove the trim panel around the 7" screen. A trim removal tool to avoid scratching.
- Remove the 4 mounting bolts (Phillips).
- Pull the radio forward to access the serial label on the chassis.
The 2015 Renegade's center stack is compact. Take your time when prying off the trim so you don't cracking the clips.
View Serial by Pulling Out the Radio Unit
If you cannot read the serial number from the screen, the most reliable way to confirm it on a 2015 Renegade is to remove the head unit and read the printed label on the chassis. The Renegade's dash bezel is held in place by spring clips, not visible bolts, so the procedure is mechanically simple but should still be done with care.
Safety first
- Switch the ignition fully off and remove the key fob from the cabin.
- Disconnect the negative terminal of the 12V battery.
- Wait several minutes before working near the dash so airbag-related circuits can fully discharge.
- Stay clear of any yellow airbag harnesses while pulling trim.
Tools you will need
- Plastic trim/panel pry tools to release the bezel without scratching the dash.
- A Torx T-25 driver for the radio retaining screws on the Renegade BU.
- A phone or camera for a clear photo of the chassis label.
Removal overview
- Use a panel tool to gently pry off the radio trim panel - it is held by around eight retaining clips around its perimeter.
- Work the tool around the bezel and release each clip in turn until the panel comes free.
- If your bezel includes any switches or HVAC controls, unplug their connectors as it lifts away.
- Undo the four T-25 Torx screws securing the head unit to the dash frame.
- Slide the radio out toward you and unplug the wiring harnesses and antenna lead from the back of the unit.
Where the serial is printed
- Look at the top, side or rear face of the metal chassis for a white or silver thermal-printed label.
- The label carries a barcode, a part number and a serial number - copy the longest alphanumeric string, which is the serial.
Tips
- Photograph the label rather than copying by hand - it removes any risk of misreading characters such as O vs 0 or I vs 1.
- Reinstallation is the reverse of removal: connectors back on, four Torx screws home, bezel pressed in until each clip seats, then reconnect the battery.

Typical Serial Number Examples for 2015 Renegade
The 2015 Jeep Renegade with Uconnect 7.0" has:
T00AM– Most common Harman prefixT00BE– Continental version
Radio designation: RA2.1 (Uconnect 7.0" touchscreen). The Renegade shares the same radio platform with other Stellantis compact vehicles. Serial: 14 characters, alphanumeric.
The serial format is identical across all Uconnect screen sizes – only the Dealer Mode access method differs.
Common S/N Formats Used on 2015 Renegade Units
Because the Renegade BU was built in Italy with a European supplier mix, serial-number styles can differ from US-market Mopar radios. The patterns below are the ones most commonly reported by owners and unlock services for this generation.
Uconnect head units
- Renegade Uconnect serials typically start with
T, with prefixes such asT0,TC,TQ,TZ,TB,TH,TM9orTVPreported across the line-up. - The full serial is usually a 14-character alphanumeric string printed inline with the rest of the serial on the chassis label.
What to copy from the label
- Copy the longest alphanumeric string next to the barcode - that is the serial.
- Watch out for ambiguous characters (O vs 0, I vs 1) and double-check by comparing the printed string with the barcode.
If the alphanumeric you read does not match any of the patterns above, recheck that you copied the serial line and not the part number. The serial is normally the longest string on the label and is the one tied to the barcode.
Code Entry Instructions
Now that you've generated 2015 Jeep Renegade radio code from the serial number, you're ready to reactivate the radio.
Many drivers get stuck at this stage because input methods can look different across radio versions, but it's usually quick.
When the radio shows CODE, it means the unit is waiting for the correct numbers.
Step-by-Step - Correct Entering Process
To input the code on your 2015 Jeep Renegade's Uconnect 7.0":
- Ignition ON. Screen displays "ENTER CODE" or ----.
- Tap the touchscreen keypad to enter each digit of the 4-digit code.
- The radio unlocks automatically after entering the 4th digit.
Lockout: 3 wrong attempts = 60-minute lockout. Keep ignition ON. Avoid turning off the ignition within the lockout period.
Entering Process
Once you have the correct anti-theft code for your 2015 Renegade radio, the entry itself is straightforward - but the radio will lock you out for an extended period if you keep entering wrong codes, so verify the code before you start.
Limited Attempt Warning
You only get three attempts. After three successive wrong codes the radio enters a WAIT state and the display reads WAIT. To clear it, the radio must remain powered with the ignition in RUN for a continuous 30 minutes - the vehicle may be driven during that time. Cycling the key off does not shortcut the timer.
Entering the code
- Turn the ignition to RUN or ACC so the radio powers up and the CODE / Anti-Theft prompt appears.
- On the touchscreen Uconnect 5.0 and 6.5/6.5N units, tap each digit on the on-screen number pad.
- On the non-touch Uconnect 3 base radio, enter each digit by repeatedly pressing presets 1 to 4 - press preset 1 until the first digit shows, preset 2 until the second digit shows, and so on for digits three and four.
- Confirm with the OK/Enter on-screen button or the equivalent hardware control when prompted.
- If the code is accepted, the radio returns to its normal home screen and audio resumes.
If it does not unlock
- Stop after the second wrong attempt and recheck the serial number you used to obtain the code.
- Make sure no leading letters or trailing digits were dropped from the serial when it was copied.
- If
WAITappears, leave the radio powered with the ignition in RUN for the full 30 minutes before trying again.
Understanding the 2015 Jeep Renegade Radio Code Retrieval Process
- Skip long troubleshooting discussions or service visits - you can find the code online using the radio serial number.
- Start by finding the serial number. You will always find it on the unit itself, and sometimes you can see it on the Renegade's display.
- Enter it into the field above, and the software will generate the correct 2015 Renegade unlock code.
- When you receive the code, type it in using Renegade's radio buttons to unlock the system successfully.
- The entire process takes less than a minute for most users and requires no VIN, documents, or technical knowledge.
What Caused the Radio to Lock?
The 2015 Renegade encounters radio lockouts primarily from:
- Battery disconnect or replacement — the most frequent reason on all Uconnect platforms, including the 7" system.
- Dead battery from urban use — Renegades used as city and commuter vehicles can experience battery drain from heavy infotainment use on short journeys, triggering the lock.
- Blown fuse — fuse failure interrupts power and triggers the anti-theft lock.
- Used purchase — the Renegade is a popular budget-friendly used crossover, and the unlock code is frequently not included at time of purchase.
The unlock code is permanently linked to the radio serial and never changes.
Renegade 2015 Common Radio Problems
If the code does not work on the Uconnect 7.0" most often results from the wrong serial was submitted. The 7" (RA2.1) serial is 14 characters, starting with T00AM or T00BE. The P-number (P... or 68...) also appears on the label but is not used for unlock.
The on-screen Engineering Menu is the most reliable method to verify the serial on the Renegade and Compass before placing your order. Contact support for a free re-check if the code fails.
Three incorrect entries on the 7" Uconnect activate a 60-minute lockout. The screen shows "WAIT" or stops accepting input. To get through the wait:
- Leave the ignition ON for the entire 60 minutes.
- Cycling the key at any point resets the lockout counter.
The 7" Uconnect lockout is identical to the 8.4" Uconnect. Be patient — the timer only counts while power is on.
The 7" Uconnect on the 2015 Jeep Renegade has on-screen serial retrieval via the Engineering Menu: hold Temperature Up + Temperature Down for 5 seconds, then go to System Info → Target Main Data → Serial Number.
- Serial number — 14 characters, starting with
T00AMorT00BE. Submit this. - Part number — begins with
Por68. Do not use.
Note that on the 7" Uconnect, the menu path uses "Target Main Data" rather than "Radio Part Info" — this is the correct path, not an error.
Should no code entry screen appear after a battery event:
- Verify the ignition is fully ON and give a moment for the Uconnect 7" to start.
- Inspect the radio fuse — a blown fuse prevents the radio from powering up.
- On these models, the temperature button combo is separate from the code prompt — it shows when the radio powers on normally.
If nothing appears, inspect the fuse box first.
The Uconnect 7.0" (RA2.1) uses the touchscreen exclusively for code entry — no hardware number buttons are involved in the process. Once the "ENTER CODE" screen appears:
- Tap each digit on the virtual number pad.
- The radio unlocks after the last digit — no confirm button is needed.
Note that the Engineering Menu (Temperature Up + Temperature Down hold) is only used to find the serial — it is not how you enter the code.
